My visit to Verace started with high hopes, but a few small details kept the experience from reaching its full potential. Upon arriving at 4:30 PM, the staff was still in the midst of completing their opening duties for the evening, which made the start of our meal feel a bit delayed.
We were also seated at a table and seat that still had some crumbs.
We ordered calamari and bruschetta to begin. The calamari arrived promptly, but the bruschetta seemed to have been missed in the order. Our server was apologetic and brought it out for us right away.
The calamari itself was a personal preference issue for me; it could have used a bit more time to get to a golden-brown finish, and I personally prefer more seasoning. I'd rate it a (6/10).

The bruschetta, once we received it, was well made, though I felt it could have used a touch more salt and to bring out the flavours. And the tomato topping was very cold. (Cold tomato mix on hot bread), I'd give it an (8/10).

For the main courses, we tried the fungi pizza and the chicken parmesan. The pizza's flavour was a little unexpected; I couldn't quite put my finger on whether it was the type of cheese or the mushrooms. While I can’t be 100% sure, I felt the mushrooms were canned, and the overall taste wasn't quite to my liking. I'd rate it a (4/10).

The chicken parmesan was a simple and well-made dish, and the side of pasta was great. The chicken, however, was a bit lacking in flavour and could have benefited from more seasoning. I could taste the breading over the chicken. (5/10).

The service felt a bit slow throughout the evening. It took around 50 minutes from the time we ordered our main dishes to the moment they arrived at the table. In addition, I noticed that the oil and vinegar holder on our table was dusty.
Verace has a nice atmosphere, and with some minor adjustments, I believe it could offer a much better experience. Since this was on a Monday, it may have just been a case of the "Monday blues." I feel I should return on a busier day to see if things are different.
