The Lake View has been a reliable staple for decades, offering comfort food that truly hits the spot, especially when you need it most. As a long-time, albeit sporadic, patron, I can attest to its solid foundation as a 24-hour diner. It offers all the essentials: excellent burgers, comforting sandwiches, deliciously thick milkshakes, and classic pies and breakfasts.

Food & Experience (8/10)

My most recent visit was a perfect saving grace after a failed celestial observation (thanks to a snowstorm!). I ordered the classic breakfast option (sausage, eggs, home fries, and toast). The portion was generous and satisfying. The sausages were notably well-prepared—snappy with a lovely, distinct sage flavour. The eggs were moist and velvety, cooked to perfection.

A Small Suggestion: The home fries were slightly on the dry side, but this was absolutely forgivable, given the early hour of the order, far ahead of the typical breakfast rush.

Plate Size: A minor suggestion for management: the plate felt a little crowded. A slightly larger plate would make the generous meal easier to manage and enjoy.

The staff here are truly wonderful, friendly, attentive, and incredibly helpful. Our server, Sofia, was an absolute delight. Her positive energy and attentive service made the experience even better.

As an enthusiastic diner, I would personally love to see the addition of a full English-style breakfast. While I'm not sure how broadly it would be received by the Toronto diner crowd, it might be a fascinating addition to the existing beloved breakfast options!

The Lake View is more than just a diner; it's a piece of local history, having served this community for over nine decades and often being the location of choice for films set in Toronto. It provides excellent, satisfying food with genuinely fantastic service. It’s the reliable go-to when nothing else will do, and I highly recommend it.
